That is a question I've been asking myself for quite some time. What's the purpose of a blog? To rant and rave? To discuss topics that interest me? To write my thoughts, my hopes, my dreams? Will anyone else care?
Do I discuss the my dog's adventures? my teenagers? What about the fish that swim in my aquarium, will anyone care about their adventures? Do I?
What about my favourite books or movies, stories I'm working on or should be working on? Are these things worth blogging about?
Gossip, everyone likes gossip. But who do I gossip about?
And who reads these things anyway? For now, I'll have a readership of one, perhaps two, when I send Lis the link to my blog.

Let me be the first to comment on your blog, and you know what they say, you never forget your first!
ReplyDeletePersonally I think a blog is like starting a conversation. You throw a subject out there and wait to see who joins in. The added bonus of a blog over an actual face-to-face conversation is the dress code is totally relaxed. Blog in your undies if you want, who'd know?!
So let's see some exciting subjects thrown out for our enjoyment.

To blog, or not to blog...? The great thing about a blog, is that it is absolutely totally one hundred per cent yours. You can write about anything you want. Of course we would love reading about canine/teen/aquatic animal adventures. Of course you care and want to share. Your stories, of course, we want to know. You show me your canine/teen/aquatics and I'll show you my lagomorph/teen/aquatic animal (I have frogs) adventures. But...no husband? Or, is he buried in the garden?
ReplyDeleteOkay, so far you've received two comments, but no further postings by you. I'm not sure, but I don't think that's how it works. I think you need to post something new.
ReplyDeleteYou'll notice Lis isn't the only one suspicious about the safety and whereabouts of your (Alleged? Late?) husband. I've always noticed in your writing there's a certain amount of violence directed toward men. In fact, just writing this makes me nervous.

I agree with both of you, this blogging thing is just like a conversation only sometimes it takes a while to get to a response.
ReplyDeleteYou both need not worry about the spouse. He is around... somewhere warm and safe...
And speaking of gardening, there's a book out there that's on my list called "Wicked Plants: A Book of Botanical Atrocities" by Amy Stewart. "It s an A to Z of plants that kill, maim, intoxicate, and otherwise offend." Doesn't that sound like a delightfully good book?
